Action against chief education officers for not submitting inspection reports

PNS

Uttarakhand school education director general D Senthil Pandiyan ordered special adverse entry for the year 2015-16 involving those chief education officers of four districts who had failed to submit inspection reports of schools in their respective districts to the education directorate on designated date.

The State education department had released an instruction to the education officers — block education officer, district education officer, division level officer on July 22, 2014, to conduct surprise inspections in the Government schools of their respective districts. DG Pandiyan had chaired a video conferencing meeting with the district chief education officers on April 4.

In order to improve level of education in schools and ensure teachers are available there as per the  schedule, he had directed the chief education officers to conduct surprise inspections through block education officers in government schools from May 2 in their districts and submit the report to the directorate by May 30 over Fax and Email.

However, some of the chief education officers having not completed such inspection works through their sub-ordinate officers and having thus failed to submit inspection report to the directorate as per the directive, DG Pandiyan said CEOs must be accounted for this. According to him, this has happened with the CEOs having no control over their sub-ordinate officers.

Taking a strong note of this dereliction of duty on the part of the CEOs, DG Pandiyan ordered special adverse entry for them for the year 2015-16. It is learnt that some of the CEOs had sent such inspection reports to the education directorate as per the directive.
