The reliability, accuracy, certification, time limit and error free lab report play a significant role in making a clinician ascertain opinion about a disease, said the experts during a one- day CME organised at Mahant Indiresh Hospital here.
The In-charge, Microbiology lab of Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dr Sulekha Nautiyal delivered a lecture over the topic ‘Total Quality Management’ on the occasion. She explained that equal roles and responsibilities lie with all those in the lab right from the lab technician taking the sample till the person delivering the report. Dr Nautiyal said that it is challenging to meet all the standards laid down by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories).
After the certification by NABL, the reports by the lab are considered to be correct as per the international parameters. In such a situation, all the big or small units of the lab turn out to be equally responsible, Dr Nautiyal said.
In the CME, more than 200 doctors, technicians and lab assistants from AIIMS, Rishikesh, Himalayan Hospital Jolly Grant, Government Doon Medical College and other prominent pathology laboratories of Dehradun took part.
