Incessant showers have exposed how ‘prepared’ Nainital district administration is with several roads in Haldwani disappearing under water on Thursday. This prompted the State Finance Minister and MlA from Haldwani Indira Hridayesh to deploy SDM Haldwani and other officials to deal with the situation on Thursday.
Taking a serious note of the busy Haldwani-Kaladhungi Road being waterlogged, she asked SDM Haldwani Pankaj Upadhyay to take necessary steps to ensure prompt release of rain water from the aforesaid road. The fact is that waterlogging due to rain on Haldwani- Kaladhungi Road, Haldwani-Rampur Road, Haldwani-Bareilly Road and some others of Haldwnai is common.
The motorists and the pedestrians alike are used to such dismal state of things on the roads. Encroachment on the main Haldwani- Kaladhungi Road triggers waterlogging.SDM Haldwani, Pankaj Upadhyay asked the officials concerned to remove the encroachments. Since raining continues for the past two days, tourism sector has suffered a setback. The tourist footfalls are declining with monsoon having arrived, said a tour operator. More so, tourists who are here are choosing to confine themselves principally in Nainital.
