In protest against lathi charge on girl students at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the members of the Aam Aadami Party (AAP) held a demonstration here on Monday.
The party men also burned an effigy of the Uttar Pradesh Government on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the State President of Mahila Morcha of the party Pushpa Rawat said that on one hand the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi gives the slogan ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ but on hand the atrocities against the women in different BJP ruled States is on rise. She pointed out incidences in UP, Haryana and Gujarat. The State President of the party Chandra Shekhar Bhatt also termed cane charge on peaceful students as barbaric.
The AAP leaders termed lathi charge on girl students who were demonstrating peacefully as act of cowardice of Yogi Government. The district President Uma Sisodiya, Balwinder Saini, Sarita Giri, Pooja Bhalla, Shyam Babu Pandey and Shyamlal Nath were also present.
