Holi celebrations took a tragic turn here for a family after their five-year-old boy died while bathing at a water tank on Monday afternoon.
Police sources said the boy, identified as Rahul, son of labourer Manoj Mishra, had gone to a water tank in the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation depot to wash off the Holi colours along with other children.
The kid was washing off the colour on Monday afternoon when he lost balance and fell into the water tank. Watching him drown in the tank, his friends shouted for help but by the time people came to rescue the boy, he was breathing his last. He was taken to a hospital nearby where doctors declared him dead.
