The family members of the woman, who had lost her newborn at birth, have demanded immediate arrest of four lady doctors of the Government Shushila Tiwari Hospital and Medical College (GSTHMC). An FIR has been registered with Haldwani police on the charge of medical negligence in carrying out a Caesarean section in July last in the same hospital.
However, the medical college administration has refused to take any action against the doctors, saying only after completion of the investigation appropriate steps would be initiated against them. It may be recalled that Mamta Bhatt, a resident of Chhrayal, Haldwani, was admitted to the (GSTHMC) for delivery in July last.
However, the doctors attending upon the victim decided to carry out operation when her health conditions were found deteriorating. During the operation the baby child could not be saved, as the complainant Shushil Bhatt, a relative of the victim, allegedly said. More so, he alleged, during the operation, the doctors concerned also removed the uterus of the victim without the knowledge of the family members. When the family members came to know about removal of the uterus ofthe victim, they also staged protest against the hospital administration and the lady doctors concerned for many days.
Subsequently, the agitating family members also moved the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court, Nainital in this case demanding action against the hospital authorities concerned. Subsequently, taking a note of the case the CJM court directed the Haldwani police to register a case against the four lady doctors.
Though a case in this regard has been registered at the Haldwani police on Wednesday, the family members of the victim have demanded immediate arrest of the lady doctors who were involved in carrying out the operation of the victim.
