PNS

The human trafficking cell of police has arrested four persons, including two women, on the charge of running a sex racket in Premnagar colony of Roorkee and rescued a minor on Wednesday. The girl reportedly revealed to police that a former local BJP woman leader was involved in the racket. The BJP district leadership said that the leader had already been expelled from the party.

The accused have been identified as Sonam Arora, resident of Premnagar Roorkee, Hina Sharma, resident of district Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Bobby and Yashpal, hailing from Manglaur in Haridwar.

During the raid, a minor girl from Saharanpur was rescued from the house of Sonam Arora. The head of the anti- human trafficking cell of Haridwar, Sadhnya Tyagi said, “The minor was lured by Hina on the promise of getting her  a job in Haridwar and then she was forced into prostitution. Hina and her friend Sonam were constantly in touch with another local woman Hema Rawal who claimed she was a social worker and a BJP leader. As the minor named Hema as being involved in the racket we have registered a case against her too. All the accused were sent to the judicial custody after they were produced in the court. However, Hema Rawal and another member of the  gang Shabnam are yet to be arrested.”

When asked to comment on the minor naming Hema Rawal, a local BJP leader, as being involved in the racket, president of the BJP’s Roorkee unit Kalpna Saini said that Rawal had already been expelled from the party after she had been booked earlier this month by Roorkee police in connection with a money extortion case which was registered by a local BJP leader.
