Hosted under the Namami Gange programme, the four- day Ganga Utsav concluded at Rishikul auditorium on Thursday during which several students were awarded for their contribution in spreading awareness for keeping the Ganga clean and also in keeping their surroundings clean. The students pledged on the day to banish the use of polythene. They further said that they would work on the mission with redoubled energy in the coming days. The MLA from Jwalapur Suresh Rathore distributed jute bags with the message ‘I shall not use polythene. I will keep Ganga clean’ painted on them.
Speaking on the occasion, Rathore said that the revered river can be kept clean only with the efforts and the contribution of the common people. “The government is doing its bit and in all sincerity too. But things cannot be completed through the governmental efforts alone. All sections of the people must come forward and contribute to the great cause. This is a collective mission of the nation to keep the holy river clean and rid of all pollutants. We hope that the students and the youth would contribute a lot to the cause and inspire others to follow their lead,” he said.
