One or two accidents being reported from various parts of the State almost daily are leaving the people scared. Ten persons had died in two road accidents reported in Chamoli and Dehradun on Wednesday.
A college going student dying in a road accident agitated the students who in their hundreds came out on the road, shouting slogans against the State administration outside the college campus. They blocked the road too. The students alleged that the State Government failing to check accidents are leaving them vulnerable. Police are failing to discipline the bus drivers whose reckless driving is leading to scores of deaths in accidents, particularly in Premnagar area, the angry students said.
Additional forces were deployed to ease the situation at the incident site. Police asked the students to call off their stir and facilitate the traffic movement. But the appeal failing to impact the agitators, police used force to disperse the students and to clear the blocked road.
