Dehradun: A local social worker has alleged that the administration in Srinagar in Pauri district has ordered the shifting of Gauteerthashram which houses more than 80 aged and ailing cows to facilitate the operation of a liquor shop from the area. Srinagar resident Navin Prakash Nautiyal said that earlier in March, woman had started a protest to get a liquor shop near the cow shelter shifted elsewhere. In April, the sub divisional magistrate and excise officer found the liquor shop to be violating regulations and sealed it. However, for the new allocation, the same shop has become legitimate, which is questionable, said Nautiyal. While the administration wants to shift the cow shelter, the municipal council executive officer states that a proposal was passed in the board meeting of the local body for maintaining a cow shelter at the said location.
Shiv Sena commemorates its 51st foundation day
Dehradun: Shiv Sena commemorated its 51st foundation day with various activities in different towns of the state on Monday. In Dehradun, a considerable number of Shiv Sainiks donated blood at a camp organised in the Government Doon Medical College hospital. Earlier, at a programme at the Shiva Sena state head office, the party’s state head Gaurav Kumar remembered the party founder Bal Thackeray and the principles on which the party was founded. He reiterated the party’s commitment to the welfare of all sections of society. Various programmes were also held by Shiv Sainiks to mark the occasion in Nainital, Haldwani, Kashipur, Jaspur, Pantnagar, Roorkee and Sahaspur among other locations.
6-MEMBER Ethiopian delegation visits CSIR-IIP
Dehradun: A six-member delegation from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia visited the CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum here on Monday.The delegation members held a wide-ranging discussion with the scientists of the institute and its director Anjan Ray on the ongoing research activity at IIP. Ray gave a presentation covering the full range of the research and developmental work at the institute, after which the delegation visited the various laboratories of the institute.
