Stoical top cop

Queer things are happening in the State’s police department. Things look queer as they are happening with the top cop being kept in the dark. The latest of the strange things that are befalling the police department is that the State Government has suddenly transferred a senior cop from an important post without  taking the top  cop into confidence. Prior to his transfer, the cop used to brief the State Government on the developments happening in the State.  The crux of the matter is that the top cop came to learn about what happened after the matter became public knowledge. It is learnt that the senior cop was transferred as he had incurred the wrath of the political masters because of his refusal  to provide  them with the information of dissidents, about to throw challenge to the Government during  the  budget session, despite himself being aware of what was to happen. The move surprised all in the department, but the top cop might have taken it hard as it amounted to undermining his authority.  It would have to be seen whether he would continue to show stoical composure, taking things sportingly.

Sword of suspension

With some of the transferred bureaucrats choosing to cling to their old posts, defying the order, the secretary Personnel has finally stepped in to rein in the delinquent  babus. He made it clear that they must fall in line latest by October 15 or would face the music in the form of suspension order. It is public knowledge that they are defying the orders, cocksure as they are that they would have things  suitably altered thanks to their proximity to those calling the shots in the State. But now things have changed with the sword of suspension dangling over their conceited heads. Many feel that conniving with their wild pranks would leave a very bad precedent, emboldening others in future to follow their defiant footsteps. In short, the system that governs the bureaucracy would crumble down. However, hope has been kindled with the secretary Personnel having meted out the stern warning. Many are, however, skeptic, given the fact that things in the Babudom hardly move sans the nod from those who think they are presiding over the destiny of the State courtesy their political muscles.
