ParadafashIJ
The unthinkable happened. A State BJP leader was heard shouting slogans in favour of Chief Minister Harish Rawat while sitting right in the BJP head office. It happened when media persons, including those from electronic media, were present. The leader is known for sending press notes.
He is a butt of ridicule among the party leaders and activists. When the court judgment on Arunachal Pradesh came he sent a press note on Manipur instead. Recently the State BJP in-charge Shyam Jaju was to address the media. The media persons turned up. Meanwhile, electricity went off.
The leader who was sitting on the side of the dais suddenly screamed Harish Rawat ki Jai. When the media persons looked askance at him he said he had said so by way of mockery. Significantly, the press meet was arranged to inform the media that the State BJP was set to launch Paradafash movement against the Chief Minister Harish Rawat. Things are interesting.
Flying for Smart CityIJ
Smart city project which remained bogged in controversy generating fire inside and outside the House has again come into the media glare. Things are that with the State Government remaining determined to bless Dehradun with the project, some politicians and bureaucrats are set to go abroad to study how such projects are successful in other countries. Interestingly, when Congress led Uttarakhand Government took up the reins in 2012,
it was categorically stated that no foreign tour would be allowed at the Government’s expense. But now when the Government is at the fag end of its tenure things are changing.
Critics say that the top Congress brass wants to loosen strings to allow the politicians and the babus to travel abroad on the pretext of studying the project. Things might indeed be so as it is uncertain whether the present regime would return to power. Now, the question is–when the project remains mired in uncertainty how the State Government can spend money to facilitate some to travel abroadIJ
The critics again say that some leaders and bureaucrats going abroad hardly effects positive changes in the State.
