Tightening screws around intrusive scribes
The beleaguered Harish Rawat Government, visibly wilting under pressure with crimes following one another with incredible pace, has decided to exercise eagle-eyed vigil over the media. It has been decided that steps would be taken to keep the mediapersons, save for a chosen few, as far away from the ‘deified’ precincts of the Chief Minister’s Office as possible. Tightening screws around them further, the information department has been asked to review the list of mediapersons who visit the secretariat daily before passes are issued for the next year. Sources said that information department issues more than 1,200 passes to mediapersons to facilitate their entry in the Secretariat and Vidhan Sabha. Such a large number is supposed to have landed the Principal Secretary and the Secretaries in trouble. To spare them the pain of attending to the meddlesome, incorrigibly curious scribes, the information department is literally burning midnight oil to drastically bring the figure down. The rationale behind the exercise is that the genuine journalists should be distinguished from the spurious ones. A committee has been constituted to take the final call for issuing passes. Moreover, CMO has appointed two persons at media centre of the Secretariat to keep the media persons under lens.
Riddle of Garbage
If you find broom-wielding Government servants roaming around don’t be surprised. Harish Rawat Government seems invincibly resolved to make the State free from garbage. To flaunt how serious it is to cleanse Devbhoomi of the squalor, the State Government has decided to host a 17- day special sanitation drive, beginning on January 14 next. To lend credence to the ‘momentous’ drive around schools, hospitals, offices and public places, the officials would be involved in full. However, the carping critics are unconvinced, as usual. They ask where the garbage would finally be dumped in Dehradun. Most of the garbage dumping sites are located in the heart of the city. What if the over-zealous officials venture to remove garbage from thereIJ Will MCD then cope up with the outcome of the mission-charged adventurismIJ
