PNS

Two new cases of dengue and one case of swine flu were detected by the district health department on Tuesday. The district In charge of integrated disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Dr Puneet Chandra said that on the day a 25 year old patient, a resident of Roshanabad was found positive for dengue, similarly the sample of a 19 year old patient, a resident of Bhaniyawala in Dehradun was also found positive for the disease. Both these patients are undergoing treatment at associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College. The number of people affected by the Dengue in the district has risen to 12. Interestingly all these cases have been reported from the associated hospital of GDMC. Which clearly point out lack of system in place to check the patients admitted in other hospitals.

Meanwhile report of one more patient admitted in Max hospital here has been found positive for swine flu. This 25 year old patient is a resident of Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh.  The numbers of swine flu patients have now risen to 55.

Dr  Chandra said 45 cases have been found positive by the lab of IDSP in this year and out of them 32 are from Dehradun while remaining are from other districts and states. He said that 24 patients suspected to be suffering from the disease are at present undergoing treatment in different hospitals of Dehradun. Eight patients are admitted in Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT), six each in associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) and Max hospital while two each are presently undergoing treatment at Synergy and Vaish hospitals. He further informed that the department has sent samples of 43 suspected patients to the NCDC for test of H1 N1 this month but reports of 26 samples are yet to arrive. It is worth mentioning here that 11 patients have succumbed to swine flu so far out of which nine are from Dehradun while two belonged to Pauri.
