The police achieved major success against the continued trafficking and peddling of hard drugs by arresting two persons including a woman involved in the business with smack estimated to be valued at lakhs of rupees. The police has booked a case against the duo and sent them to jail.

According to information received, police from the Mandi post were patrolling the Teenpani area on Saturday night when they saw a youth and a woman getting down from a bus. The duo appeared to be afraid of the police as they started to flee from the place. Watching this the police became alerted and halted them. The police checked the duo and found 235 sachets of smack from their possession. The two persons nabbed by the police were identified as Mohammadi Chowk, Indiranagar resident Rihan and resident of the same locality Mehnaz. During questioning, the two are reported to have told the police that they have been connected to this business for some time now.

They used to allegedly source the smack from Bahedi and sell the contraband in Haldwani. The duo reportedly said that they used to get smack for comparatively cheaper rates at Bahedi and used to sell it at higher rates here. The woman caught with the smack is purported to have confessed to her link with the narcotics trade for some time, stating that before getting involved in smack, she used to be active in the hashish business. Her husband also used to purportedly be a part of her hashish business but they were not making profit in the business of that particular narcotic so she tried her hand in the smack business. It is said that it was during this time that the woman came into contact with Indiranagar resident Rihan who is stated to have told her about a source of smack in Bahedi. Soon, the duo got involved in the smack business and used to procure the opiate for comparatively cheaper rates at Bahedi and sell it for a good profit in Haldwani.

The police booked a case against the duo and presented them in the court from where they were sent to jail.

The police is said to be probing into the backgrounds of the two accused while also collecting information about the persons the two were in communication with.
