Two companies of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) departed for Kedarnath valley from Dehradun on Monday. Deputy Inspector General of Police Sanjay Gunjal said, “In view of forthcoming Char Dham Yatra slated to begin from May 7, two companies of SDRF have been deployed to Kedarnath Valley. These teams will be deployed at five demarcated zones in the Kedarnath valley for the benefit of the pilgrims and if and when required they would also work in relief and rescue operation,” he added.
It should be mentioned here that after June disaster last year, the State Government had formed the SDRF with six companies for conducting relief and rescue operations in disaster affected areas of the State.
