As many as 17 road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Yojana (PMGSY) are still pending in Almora district.
Out of the aforesaid 17 road projects pending under the PMGSY, while five projects are pending at the nodal officer level, rest 12 projects are pending at the Government of India level, said the officials concerned of the PMGSY department, Almora. In the meanwhile, expressing concern over delay in granting clearance to the road projects, Akshyat
Gupta, District Magistrate, Almora, has said that following delay in granting clearance to these road projects, construction works of many road projects are still pending in the district.
However, the Almora District Magistrate has asked the officials concerned to try to get the pending road projects cleared as early as possible so that construction works could be started accordingly, stressing on the need to dispose off the forest land clearance matters on priority basis in the district.
In case of any controversy in carrying out road construction works at the local level, the respective SDMs and Executive Engineers must conduct a joint survey to settle the matter at their level so that the road construction works could be carried forward smoothly, suggested the Almora District Magistrate.
At the same time Gupta has also asked the officials concerned to propose only those works under the district plan which need no forest clearance. However, he has advised the officials concerned to take up the forest land transfer related projects under the state sector.
Similarly, those projects which are pending at the Government of India or nodal officer level, must be taken up with the officials concerned time to time so that timely clearance could be ensured, maintained the official concerned of the district administration, Almora.
At the same time the Almora District Magistrate has also asked the officials concerned to immediately invite tenders for those projects which have been granted clearance so that construction works could be started in these projects as early as possible.
