The 132 Gram Panchayats along the Ganga river in Uttarakhand have been made open defecation free apart from which construction of sewage treatment plant and other facilities are also slated to be constructed in Uttarakhand under the National Mission for Clean Ganga.

Five municipal waste water treatment projects have been facilitated in the state with work currently underway in five other similar treatment plants as part of efforts aimed at making and keeping the Ganga river clean.

These were among the issues taken up in the meeting of the state programme management group for Namami Gange under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) presided over by chief secretary Shatrughna Singh in Dehradun on Tuesday.
