With the rapid increase in number of people afflicted by dengue in various parts of the state, the Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi said that a total 102 police personnel have been diagnosed with the disease in the district. Viral fever is also quite prevalent among personnel of the police department in Dehradun district.

He also said that the district police department is getting all the help required from other departments concerned.

SSP Joshi said, “Even on Monday we had a detailed meeting with the departments concerned. The police department is providing and getting all the help that is required.

The important thing is that eradication of this diseased cannot be done by one department only. It is essential for common people to also do their part. Awareness is the key, a larva takes five to seven days to become a mosquito.

If we stay aware about preventing water from stagnating in one place, we can prevent the mosquitos from rising in numbers.”

Apart from dengue, at several junction points in the district water logging situation is not only a threat to the health of common citizens, but can also affect health of the police personnel stationed at the duty point majorly. For instance, on Monday a traffic constable was stationed at Behl Chowk, where the water logging situation mixed with the over flowing garbage and dirty water of the drain nearby had the commuters complaining about the cleanliness.

However, the traffic constable stayed there and continued to regulate the traffic. Similar situation can be seen near Karnpur post at Survey Chowk.

When asked about this SSP Joshi said, “Whenever we receive any such complaint from any of our police personnel, we intimate the problem to the departments concerned.

The departments also are positively responsive to complaints and requests.”
