PNS

Rubbishing media reports that Congress President Rahul Gandhi gave a severe dressing down to some senior leaders during the meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC) held on Saturday, the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and member of CWC, Harish Rawat has claimed that no such thing happened in the meeting.  He was responding to the questions of media persons at Rajiv Bhawan, the headquarters of state unit of Congress on Monday. Rawat said that he was present in the meeting of CWC and the reports of reprimand given by Congress president to senior leaders and nothing but mere imagination. He however accepted that Rahul Gandhi had offered his resignation taking moral responsibility of the debacle the party received in the Lok Sabha elections.

Rawat added that the all the members of CWC unanimously and unitedly rejected the offer of resignation. The CWC gave a free hand to Congress President to take tough decision and united said that all his decisions would be supported by all.  The senior leader of Congress party said that the party is going through a bad phase and the fate has taken such a turn that despite of adopting a good strategy and efforts made by the workers, nothing is working positively for the party.  He however expressed confidence that the Congress party has full capability to come out of this bad phase.

Media reports had claimed that in the CWC meeting Rahul Gandhi castigated leaders like P Chidambaram, Ashok Gehlot and Kamal Nath for seeking tickets for their sons and even going on the extent of threatening to resign if the  tickets are not given to their wards.

Reacting to the question on the suggestions being circulated on social media platforms in which Harish Rawat is being asked to take Sanyas (retirement) from the politics, the veteran leader in his unique style said that he would prefer to be a Karamyogi instead of being a Sanyasi. “ Such suggestions are being given by the supporters of BJP but what they don’t know is that Sanyasi Harish Rawat would become more dangerous to them than Karamyogi Harish Rawat.’’

In response to a question as to why he is now visiting temples after facing electoral loss, Rawat said that he is visiting the temples to seek answer as to why he receives punishment for wrong doing of others? Rawat candidly admitted that he insisted that the party should field him from Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar constituency in the Lok Sabha elections.
