Launching an attack on all five sitting BJP Members of Parliament ( MP) from Uttarakhand, the Chief Spokesperson of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), Mathura Dut Joshi has said that they have failed miserably in raising the issues related to Uttarakhand in the parliament. Addressing media persons at the state party office on Thursday, he said that people of the state had sent BJP candidates to parliament from all the five Lok Sabha seats but all of them have failed completely. Joshi said that the MP from Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar constituency, Bhagat Singh Koshyari raised only 10 questions during five years in parliament while the Tehri MP, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah asked 33 questions. Similarly Almora- Pithoragarh MP Ajay Tamta asked 69 questions, Garhwal MP Major General B C Khanduri ( Rtd) raised 104 questions and Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhariyal ‘ Nishank’ asked 389 questions in parliament during their entire term of five years. He said that top BJP leaders of the state are now trying to mislead the people of Uttarakhand again by using the name of Modi. Terming the five year tenure of Narendra Modi at centre as lacklustre, the Congress leader said that price rise and unemployment has reached to its peak. He said that the decisions like implementation of GST and enforcement of demonetization has given hardship to the people. Joshi said that recent incident in which mining mafia assaulted police personnel in a police post under the patronage provided by the education minister of state underlies the condition of law and order in Uttarakhand. He said that the both the union and state governments have done nothing but to mislead the people but the people of the state have understood the game plan of the BJP and are determined to teach it a lesson this time.
Joshi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech at Rudrapur on Thursday didn’t touch even a single burning issue of Uttarakhand. “ His speech today reminded people the false promises he made during the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections of 2014,’’ he said.
