PNS

Irked over the killing of five Indian soldiers in an ambush in the Poonch sector on August 6, the activists of Punjab Youth Congress on Friday blocked the Delhi-lahore bus about 20 kilometers from the Attari Border.

led by State Youth Congress chief Vikramjit Chaoudhary, about 50 party workers blocked the bus for 35 minutes near India’s Gate on Amritsar-Attari road. Although the bus travels amid heavy security and even the intelligence agencies keep an eye on movement of the bus, all measures to keep the protesters in check seem to have failed.

However, the bus resumed its journey after police cleared the barricaded placed by the protesters. Sitting in front of the Sada-e-Sarhad bus, the protesters raised slogans against Pakistan and demanded that the UPA Government should stop the rail and bus service to Pakistan immediately. They even demanded putting a stop to any trade between the two countries.

“As the UPA has made it clear that our soldiers were killed by Pakistan Army, we demand that all ties with Pakistan must be broken. We will not allow this bus to move and continue with protests in the future as well,” said Vikramjit Choudhary. A police official informed that around 25 protesters were rounded up by the police. There were 30 passengers on the bus which traveled to Pakistan on Friday.
