Senior Congress leader and former Minister Capt. Ajay Yadav on Friday announced to quit the party citing continued humiliation in the party.

In a series of tweets posted on Friday morning, the six-time former MlA from Rewari, Capt. Yadav announced to quit the Congress blaming All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Haryana, Kamal Nath and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for his decision.

Announcing his decision, Yadav posted on Twitter, “I gave my youth and life for the Congress but my ego has been hurt. I quit Congress.” In another tweet, he said, “My father was a true Congressmen and I too had great faith in Nehru-Gandhi family but BS Hooda is supreme and others are insignificant.”

Accusing newly-appointed party in-charge for Haryana affairs, Kamal Nath, Capt. Yadav wrote: “Mr Kamalnath you misled the high command and undermined my prestige. You have 40 years of experience but I too have 30 years of work (sic).”

Although the senior leader has announced to quit the party, he is yet to hand over his resignation to the Congress.

Yadav was upset for being sidelined in the party and the immediate provocation to quit came in the meeting convened by Kamal Nath in Delhi on Wednesday to bring truce among factions of Congress’ Haryana unit. Yadav was first invited for the meeting but was later told to stay away from it. Yadav, who visited Ajmer Sharif on Friday, will now address the media in New Delhi on Saturday.

A bête noire of former Haryana CM Hooda, Yadav had been voicing his ire against Hooda for several months. Yadav, who served as Power and Environment Minister in previous Congress regime, had also resigned from the Council Of Ministers in 2014, criticising Hooda for focusing on only Rohtak, but later withdrew the resignation following the intervention of the high command.

Yadav had recently also met Chief Minister Manohar lal demanding  inquiry into the land scams against Hooda. Following his announcement to quit the party, Yadav has alleged that the Government from 2005 to 2014 was full of property dealers and looted the State Exchequer.

Meanwhile, the Opposition hit out at the Congress following Yadav’s announcement. Haryana Ministers OP Dhankar and Ram Bilas Sharma said everybody in the Congress is unhappy and are welcome to join the BJP.
