Will form Govt in Punjab: Kejri

JAGMOHAN SINGH

Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that the outcome of the recent lok Sabha polls in Punjab showed that the people were ‘disillusioned’ with the SAD-BJP Government and exuded confidence in his party that would form the next Government in the State.

“The mandate given by the voters to the AAP in the recent lok Sabha polls in Punjab amply showed that people are fed up with the ruling SAD-BJP regime,” said Kejriwal who was on a day’s visit in the State to ‘thank’ the electors for supporting AAP candidates.

Kejriwal paid obeisance at Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple along with the party activists, and later visited historic Jallianwalla Bagh to pay tribute to the martyrs who scarified their lives for during freedom struggle.

later, addressing a Press conference, Kejriwal said that he was in Punjab “to express thanks to the Almighty in the Golden Temple after winning four Parliamentary seats in Punjab”.

“I am thankful to the people of Punjab who expressed deep faith in AAP and sent four AAP candidates to the Parliament to raise the voice of Punjab as how they are suffering with drug addiction,” said the former Delhi Chief Minister.

He said that the people’s mandate in Punjab, which was witnessed during the Parliament elections, proved that people are fed up and sick with the ruling SAD-BJP regime, and have “made up their mind to throw ruling Akali-BJP combine out of power when next general Assembly elections will be held after two and a half years”.

“People in Punjab are fed up with corruption, unemployment and hooliganism. Earlier people don’t had any choice…they have to elect either Congress or Akalis. Now, people have better choice of honest AAP which gained historic entry in the active politics of Punjab,” said Kejriwal.

Describing the party’s decision to contest Punjab assembly polls as “second freedom struggle” to get rid of unemployment, corruption and drug-free Punjab, Kejriwal said that just like maximum participation by Punjab in India’s freedom struggle, “I have a strong hope that AAP’s second freedom struggle would strongly be supported by the people of Punjab and it would help to make new Punjab in future”.

He announced that AAP candidates will contest from all assembly seats in Punjab. Responding to the allegation by senior Congress leader and Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh that some AAP leaders in Punjab have “Naxal-links”, Kejriwal said: “When somebody raises voice against injustice and corruption, then a few will start calling them a Naxalite.”
