Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said that the BJP has set an ambitious target of winning 75 seats out of total 90 in the State Assembly elections due to be held later this year.
“To achieve the Mission-75, work will be done in a prescribed schedule in Haryana. In the Lok Sabha elections, people of the state have ensured victory of the BJP with maximum votes in all ten Lok Sabha constituencies. Until the Assembly elections to be held in Haryana, this graph of popularity of the BJP in the state will continue to increase,” the Chief Minister said while talking to the mediapersons after meeting Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi.
Shah had convened a meeting of core groups of Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand to strategise for the assembly polls scheduled to take place in the said states later this year.
Manohar Lal said that that the opposition parties are depressed after the losses they suffered in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.
They have given nothing but misgovernance to the public when they were in power. The public will definitely see that and vote for us, he said.
Haryana has about 20,000 polling booths. Our workers will be active at those booths, he said.
In recently concluded parliamentary elections, the saffron party had not only won on all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana but had also maintained its lead in as
many as 79 assembly constituencies out of total 90 Assembly seats.
Registering a rise of three seats in its tally from last general elections 2014, the BJP had got 58 percent vote share (7357347) in parliamentary polls 2019, much higher than that of 34.7 per cent vote share, it had got in last general elections.
To continue its winning spree in the elections, the saffron party is currently organizing “Karyakarta Abhinandan Samaroh” in all districts to further boost the morale of the party cadre and issue necessary directions regarding upcoming Vidhan Sabha polls.
Under this, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal is undertaking a statewide tour to thank the party cadre for BJP’s victory in Lok Sabha polls and urging them to continue their exercise of reaching out to the voters ahead of the Assembly polls.
In 2014 Vidhan Sabha election, the BJP had won 47 seats and had managed to make its maiden State Government in Haryana on its own. Currently, the ruling BJP has 48 MLAs while principal opposition party-Congress has 17 MLAs in the State Assembly.
Notably, Haryana BJP unit has entered into a poll alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal under which the SAD had supported the saffron party in the parliamentary elections and would now be given appropriate number of seats in the State Assembly elections.
The SAD led bythe Badals— father-son duo of Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir— is a key ally of the BJP-led NDA at the Centre.
