'We are not interfering in Vadra land deal case'

A day after Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra alleged that he was being subjected to a “political witch-hunt”, Haryana Government on Monday hit back saying that there is no interference from its side in the enquiry into the land deals linked to him and that it has a strong case.

Several Cabinet Ministers of Haryana Government on Monday slammed previous Congress Government in the State and Vadra on the issue of land deals.

Senior Haryana Minister Anil Vij said, “Whatever he (Vadra) has achieved till date is because of politics only. If he is talking about the inquiry, then we don't have anything to do with it. There is no interference from our side... The Commission is probing the matter and we have no role in that. It is between the Commission and Vadra.”

Vij’s comments came in the wake of Vadra, whose land deals are being probed in BJP-ruled Haryana and Rajasthan, contending that he was being subjected to a “political witch-hunt” and used as a “political tool”.

Anil Vij, a five-time legislator from Ambala Cantt, while talking to the mediapersons said, “We are not predicting what the inquiry might conclude in future. We believe that our case is strong and that is why we are saying so.”

later, he also tweeted on the issue sending a strong message that strict action will be taken in the case if the one-man commission recommends that.

“If the Commission in its report gives its recommendations against Vadra, we will take strict action," said the Minister.

Haryana Government had in May constituted a one-man commission to probe into the alleged illegal land deals including controversial land deal involving Robert Vadra and real estate player DlF during the previous Congress regime in the State.

The State Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu while commenting on the issue on Monday said that the State Government does not have any issue in getting the land deal issue probed by Central Bureau of Investigation. “If Congress demands, then the land deal issue can be investigated by the CBI also,” said he while challenging former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on the land deal issue.

The Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar had at a recent function in Jind said that Justice SN Dhingra Commission will soon submit its report and all "wrongdoings" of previous government would be made public and alleged scams, involving crores of rupees, would be exposed.

Justice SN Dhingra Commission is probing the issues concerning the grant of licenses for developing commercial colonies by the Haryana Department of Town and Country Planning to some entities in Sector 83, Gurgaon during the Congress rule.

The Comptroller and Auditor General report tabled in state Assembly earlier this year had blamed the previous Congress led Haryana Government for giving undue favours to Robert Vadra in his multi-million rupee controversial land deal with real estate player DlF.

A day before, , Robert Vadra had said that a distinction should be made between him as an individual conducting business like anyone else and the politics of the family of his wife Priyanka Gandhi Vadra “without constantly attempting to link the two”.

He had also claimed that attacks on him are being used as a “political tool whenever they need to divert public attention”.
