Taking strong notice of violence in the name of cow vigilantism, Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and labour Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Monday said that these kinds of nefarious activities on the name of cow protection would not be tolerated in the state.
If anyone found indulging in taking law in his hands, he would have to face stern action according to the law, said Sidhu after the meeting of officers of Animal Husbandry and labour Department.
Sidhu said that if anyone found guilty of harming the interest of the farmers on the name of cow protection, such any social elements would be brought to book.
Prior to this, Sidhu reviewed various ongoing schemes and projects of the respective Departments and instructed the concerned officials to complete the projects in stipulated time.
He said that the Department will develop indigenous breed of Sahiwal cows because this breed is more familiar in this atmosphere. “If we are successful in producing 30 to 32 kilogram milk from a cow every day, it would be helpful in many ways to enhance the income of the farmers,” he said while adding that the State Government is committed to protect the rights of the dairy farmers.
Sidhu also directed the officials to speed up distribution of funds. “I will review the compliance of the orders in a separate meeting in few days,” he said.
