After losing his two children, victim Jitender on Thursday demanded that capital punishment should be given to the accused. Also, FIR should be registered against the police personnel who were suspended due to dereliction of duty, he said.
Asked about police protection given to him, Jitender while talking to the media said, “I don’t trust the police anymore. They failed to protect my family.”
Inconsolable Jitender added, “I will not live here and will leave this village to settle somewhere else. I have nothing left here now, my two children have died.”
Jitender’s two children succumbed to burn injuries after his house was set on fire on the intervening night of October 19 and 20, allegedly by members of the Rajput community in Ballabhgarh.
The incident happened while six policemen were supposedly guarding the family. However, at the fateful hour, only two constables were in the village, and they too were busy in a Jagrata barely 25 feet from Jitender’s house. The other four reportedly hadn’t turned up for duty on Monday.
