The Chandigarh Police is all set to have its own anthem. The senior officials of Chandigarh Police have brought the idea of preparing the anthem to fore after launching the Coffee Table Book and the short documentary film which reflects the history of Chandigarh Police.
According to police officials, the Chandigarh Police have decided to come up with a police anthem for which they will be inviting lyrics from the city students.
“The students of local schools, colleges and Panjab University would be invited to pen down the anthem. It has been decided that the length of the anthem should not be more than two minutes,” said RP Upadhyay, IGP Chandigarh Police.
The best entry would be selected and further refined with the help of professionals, who would also compose the music of the anthem, added the official.
Several other State Police including Haryana Police and Punjab Police already have their own anthem. Recently, the Chandigarh Police had released a 15-minute documentary that showcases the history, organisational structure and functioning of the Police Department.
The UT Police’s coffee table book has five segments. One of the sections showcases the glorious past of the Chandigarh Police, including the first FIR registered in 1966.
