The UT Estate office on Wednesday sealed two sites in Industrial area for alleged building bylaw violations. The UT Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Shayin ordered inspection of two sites i.e. Indl 536 (Plot No 67, Industrial Area, Phase II, Chandigarh and Indl 1279 (Plot No. 181/18, Industrial Area, Ph1, Chandigarh) from independent committee to cross check the status of construction and building bylaws violations thereof in view of approved building plan.
The sites were sealed on Wednesday morning on the orders DC-cum-EO, Chandigarh after the Committee reported serious violations at both the sites. In last two weeks, the teams of Estate office had inspected more than 50 commercial buildings for violations and had also sealed a number of sites.
The teams headed by the Assistant Estate officer, and two SDMs had found violations in more than 20 commercial buildings which also included Elante Mall in an inspection conducted last month. The reports submitted by three inspection teams had also pointed out glaring lapses in the building bylaws.
