In view of ensuing lok Sabha polls, the UT Administration issued directions pertaining to printing of pamphlets and permissions related to helicopter operations in Chandigarh.

The UT District Magistrate-cum-Returning Officer Mohd Shayin issued the orders on Thursday.

The orders stated, “in pursuance of office orders issued by the Home Department, Chandigarh Administration, the District Magistrate has been declared as nodal officer to accord permissions at Rajindra Helipad related to helicopter operations during visits of VVIPs/SPG proctectees.”

“The permissions will be granted after issuance of NOC by the Air Force Authorities and UT Police. Strict monitoring will be done about the use of helicopters at Rajendra Park during the election. Non adherence of the condition will invite penal action.”

The permission would be considered to be issued subject to the conditions. The request of landing of helicopters should be given in the office of the DM at least 24 hours before the actual time of landing.

The SSP Chandigarh will ensure the safety and protection of the helipad once it is landed in Rajindra Park. The permission would be at the own risk of the applicant as the area is surrounded by dense forest trees.
