The piles of files pertaining to project records in UT Administration would soon be a thing of the past. For, the UT Administration has installed software for keeping track of day-to-day progress of various projects of the UT Administration.
The move is aimed at giving boost to e-governance in the working of the UT Administration.
The software installed will keep a track of construction projects and revenue projects to be executed by the UT Administration during current fiscal year 2013-14 and during 12th five year plan (2012-2017).
The software has been developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC). With the help of this software, the UT higher ups would be able to keep tab on various details of a project execution including funds utilisation, deadline and current status among others. The software will ease the cumbersome and delayed process of files movement from one office to another for project review and implementation here. And, it will also help to do away with the conventional practice of maintaining piles of file records for a particular project and calling review meetings for the implementation of a project.
The database of various projects would be maintained and day-to-day activities would be registered in the software. The software would maintain data comprises of all the particulars and detailing of each project along with their estimate cost, funds utilisation, weekly progress, deadline of completion, other targets fixed etc.
To begin with, the UT Administration has decided to keep track of construction projects of over Rs1 crore estimated cost with the help of the software. A database of over 100 construction projects to be executed in Chandigarh would be maintained by the software.
later, the database of revenue projects of over Rs10 lakh cost would also be maintained by the software.
While talking to The Pioneer, Ajoy Sharma, UT Special Secretary Finance said, “With the installation of the software, the current status of a particular project could be easily seen. The new system is user friendly and enhances the entire management. With its help, all the Departments would work in tandem to ensure smooth functioning of the administration.”
He said, “By creating a comprehensive database, the UT Administration would be able keep track of all the ongoing projects and its status. The data of projects of all the UT departments would be maintained in the software.”
