More than 30 per cent (nearly 2 lakhs) citizens in Chandigarh have already linked their Aadhar cards to their voter cards, a UT Election official said. The main objective of linking Aadhar with Voter ID is to establish the identity of electors and authentication of entries in the electoral roll and to identify if the same person is registered in more than one constituency or more than once in the same constituency. He said that the citizens can link their Aadhar with their voter card online through NVSP.com or with the help of the Voter Helpline app. A special drive is also going on from August 22 to September 7 where Booth Level Officers will visit door to door to collect Aadhar data. This door-to-door campaign will also help citizens with voter registration, he added.
