Brushing aside the possibility of a third front at the national level, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said it was nothing but a figment of imagination.
“Any possibility of a third front would be clear only after the announcement of the lok Sabha polls,” Badal said, while talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of Sangat Darshan programme. The Chief Minister said that due to instability at the Centre, there were rumours each day that had hardly anything concrete in it. “Picture would be clear after the process of lok Sabha elections is set in motion,” he added.
Reiterating that SAD-BJP alliance was firm, Badal said that SAD was fully committed to supporting the BJP in wiping out Congress from the national political scene.
Badal said that SAD would contest the forthcoming polls in alliance with the BJP and the unprecedented development of the State along with the people oriented policies of the SAD-BJP government would be their sole plank.
Badal, earlier in his address during the programme, criticised the Centre for meting out step-motherly treatment to the State. “Despite enormous contribution of the State in the country’s freedom struggle and in making the country self-reliant in food production, the successive Congress Governments at the Centre have ignored it,” he added.
