Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj Patil on Monday said that Technical Universities should put more emphasis on introducing concept of modern and latest technology.
After laying the foundation stone of new academic block of PEC University of Technology here, Patil said that the Technical Universities should adopt latest technologies while constructing new building which includes solar photovoltaic power plants on top of the roof of the buildings, provision of water harvesting and underground multi-level parking. The Administrator said that for all development activities, availability of energy is required, and to fulfil it, renewal sources of energy, like solar energy is required to be adopted.
He said solar energy panels needed to be fixed on top of our houses, offices and on educational institutions for generation of solar energy. This would help in saving electricity for industries.
Patil said, “No doubt, renewal source of energy is costly but once it is introduced the cost factor comes down.” He said, for this only, it was concept which matters and not the money.
He added that directions had already been given to the UT Administration to extend all possible help to all those who use solar energy, water harvesting and have provision of underground parking in their buildings.
