PNS

Teachers and non-teaching staff members of 484 Government-aided schools in Punjab will gherao the State’s treasury on Tuesday demanding immediate release of the second instalment of their arrears.

The second instalment of 30 per cent arrears allotted in the 5th Pay Commission by the State Government is yet to be released, said president of the Government-Aided School Teachers and Other Employees Union (Punjab), Gurcharan Singh Chahal.

He said that all Government employees have already received their second instalment of arrears. “Government-aided schools have submitted their bills to the treasury way back in August, but still these bills have not been released,” he said. “We have been left with no option other than to gherao the treasury,” he said, questioning “why we are not being paid our dues when the State Government has no funds crunchIJ”
