Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday said that the State Government would consider the demand of bringing the Gramin Vidya Upasak (regular JBT) Teacher Category appointed in the year 2002 under the old pension scheme.

In addition, the State Government would also take up the matter for refunding Rs 5000 deposited by them with National Institute of Open School, said the Chief Minister while presiding over the State Level Conference of Himachal Pradesh Gramin Vidya Upasak (regular JBT) Teachers Association here.

The Chief Minister said that the state today has emerged as a front runner state in the field of education. The credit of this also goes to the teachers of the state, who were imparting education to the students in far flung areas of Himachal, he said.

Thakur said that it was unfortunate that previous government went for unmindful opening of education institutions without any budget provisions and planning. Some of these institutions were merely announced with an eye on election, he added.

He further said that Atal Adarsh Vidya Kendra would be opened in the state with hostel facilities for imparting quality education to the students. Besides, a separate transfer policy would be framed for the teachers appointed in these institutions.

Medha Protsahan Yojana has been launched in the state for providing coaching to the students for various competitive examinations such as NEET, IIT and Civil Services. A provision of Rs 5 crore has been made for this, he said.

The Chief Minister also said that there were so many categories of teachers in the state which needs to be rationalised as the role of all these teachers was to impart education to the students. The State Government would ensure that all the genuine demands of the teachers are redressed at the earliest, he added.

He said that education is the field where foundation stone of development of any action was laid. It is vital that the students hold their teacher in high esteem and have special regard for them, for which teacher’s conduct should be exemplary and ideal for the students, Thakur said.

The Chief Minister also announced that nursery classes would be started in 3391 schools of the state, so that parents could be motivated to admit their child in government schools.

He said that all the vacant posts of C&V and PTA would be filled on priority. Efforts would also be made to redress genuine demands of PAT and PTA teachers, he said.

He also stressed on maintaining cordial relations with the teachers. A cheque of Rs 25 lakh was also presented to the Chief Minister by the Association on the occasion towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
