The UT Excise & Taxation department has detected tax evasion in crores of rupees by KFC outlets across the city. An official of the UT Administration said these outlets are being run by AN Traders Private limited, Chandigarh. The firm is collecting tax at 12.5 per cent from the customer but the same is not being deposited with the UT Excise and Taxation Department since December, 2014.
During synchronised operation on July 29, the tax evasion by KFC outlets was detected.
The official said it has also come to the knowledge of the UT Department that some outlets across the city are being run by the same person by floating another firm by the name of Silver leaf Hospitalities Private limited Chandigarh and the same modus operandi is being adopted in this case too.
