Sukhbir: Success of Pol khol rallies prove Punjabis have lost faith in Cong

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Sunday said that the massive response to the party’s pol khol rallies have proved that Punjabis had lost complete faith in the Congress Government.

“Congress Government is not only committing atrocities against the Akali workers, but is set to impose electricity bills on tubewell motors,” said Sukhbir while addressing a rally, urging them not to allow power officials to install meters on grids as proposed by the government.

He told the officers that they would be proceeded against legally for following dictates of the Congressmen and victimising Akalis.

Taking on the Chief Minister, Sukhbir said that Capt Amarinder Singh had deceived the people by handing them signed affidavits claiming their complete loan, be it from nationalised or cooperative banks and private money lenders, would be waived off.

“Finance Minister Manpreet Badal is equally to be blamed because he had authored the party’s election manifesto which promised to increase old age pension to Rs 2,500 per month and Shagun scheme to Rs 51,000,” he said.

Sukhbir said that rather than giving anything, the Congress government had stopped all social welfare benefits be it old age pension, Shagun scheme or fee scholarships to scheduled caste students. “Simultaneously, goonda tax is being imposed on sand and gravel being used by the Bathinda refinery and the Indian Air Force Station (IAF),” he said.

SAD chief said that the Congress had tried to make it out as if the SAD-BJP government was behind the cases of sacrilege.
