Sukhbir rubbishes Sidhu charge of fund diversion

PNS

A day after BJP MP from Amritsar, Navjot Singh Sidhu’s outburst on SAD-BJP led state government and its policies, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Friday rubbished the allegations of state government diverting funds for development of his constituency.

Sukhbir, talking to the media persons, said that he had personal liking for Sidhu and had no differences with him.  “I have no clue why Sidhu made such allegations. Whatever is happening within BJP is its internal matter. There’s no question of not providing funds to Amritsar,” Sukhbir clarified.

He further said that Sidhu’s wife and CPS Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu always attended the meeting held to discuss the development plan and other schemes meant for Amritsar. Sukhbir said that, on the contrary, funds were being diverted from other places to Amritsar. A master-plan worth Rs1,400 crore has been approved for Amritsar’s facelift, he added.

Miffed Sidhu, a day before, had lashed out at his own SAD-BJP government and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for not releasing funds for his projects. He alleged that many of his dream projects were in limbo for want of funds but the state government led by Badal was treating him as if he was MP from some opposition party. Chief Minister Badal had, on Thursday, refused to comment on Sidhu’s allegations saying it was an internal matter of BJP.
