Sukhbir misleading people on CAA: AAP

PNS

Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab unit on Wednesday came down heavily on SAD (Badal) president and Ferozepur MP Sukhbir Badal accusing him of spreading misinformation on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, among the people of the State.

“The Badal family speaks different languages in their own constituency, in Chandigarh and in Delhi, which speaks of their double face…Sukhbir Singh Badal is carrying forward the family legacy of maintaining double standards,” said AAP’s senior leader and the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Harpal Singh Cheema.

Cheema said that on the issue of CAA, Sukhbir and his Union Minister wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal, along with the party’s Rajya Sabha members voted in favour of the Act, “why is he shedding the crocodile tears now when he has already cast his vote in favour of the Bill?”

Terming the Bill as ill-conceived, aimed at dividing the country, Cheema said that it was an attempt on the part of the Government to mar the centuries-old mutual bonhomie and communal harmony among diverse communities.

Cheema, taking a swipe at Sukhbir and Harsimrat, said that the Badal couple and the representative of the Akali Dal (Badal) in the Rajya Sabha, had voted in favour of the Bill to appease their allies and to save the ministerial berth of the Badal ‘bahu’ by compromising on the basic principles the Shiromani Akali Dal.
