Terming the sale of spurious milk and its products as “social crime against humanity”, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday declared that the State Government would amend relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for providing stringent punishment for sale of adulterated milk.
Badal, expressing concern over the “growing tendency” of sale of adulterated synthetic milk and its products in the State, reiterated his Government’s commitment to check the “crime” by making provisions for stringent punishment for adulterators, who were playing havoc with millions of innocent lives.Badal assured a delegation of Halwai Association that their opinions on the issue would be given due consideration. The Chief Minister, terming adulteration as “inhuman act”, asked the Association to help the state in checking the sale of spurious milk and its products because the sale of such products was not only a serious threat to the humanity but was also unpardonable offence.
Badal hoped that making relevant amendments in the law in this regard on the directions of the Apex Court would act as a deterrent to check the crime in future.
