Haryana Government has initiated the process to get cancelled all the 11 registries of land in Manesar, got done against the judgment of the Supreme Court in March this year.

“Action will be taken against those involved in selling Government land fraudulently. Also, the intkals (mutation) which were registered have been cancelled, said Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram on Thursday.

After the Supreme Court verdict in Manesar land scam case, it had emerged that a portion of the disputed 400 acre land, whose ownership the SC vested with HSIIDC, had been sold off by private individuals through different registries made at the Manesar tehsil office. An inquiry into matter had recommended action against the government employees and land sellers involved in the suspicious registries.

Vinay Pratap said that as per judgment of the Supreme Court delivered in March this year, land was acquired in Manesar and the proprietary rights were given to the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).

“Yet, the earlier owner sold this land to another person and got the registry done. Taking note of this, the State Government, on the basis of a preliminary inquiry, suspended the tehsildar, kanungo and patwari. Naib tehsildar has been charge-sheeted and departmental proceedings are being carried out against him. Also, the services of data entry operator involved in this matter have been terminated,” he added.

The Apex Court had in March cancelled previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda Government’s decision to drop acquisition of 688 acres of land in Manesar. The Court had slammed the Hooda government, saying such decisions were nothing but “fraud” on power.

The SC had also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate transactions, including unearthing unnatural gains received by 'middlemen' related to the case.

In reply to another question, Vinay Pratap said a proposal had been sent to the State Government to prevent development of illegal colonies in the Gurugram district. Under this proposal, NOC from the Town and Country Planning Department would be made mandatory for registry of land less than two kanals, he added.

Approval to this proposal would help in curbing development of illegal colonies in the district, he said, adding that the cost of demolishing the illegal colony would be recovered from those who developed it.
