The Haryana Government is contemplating to frame a new policy for recovery of pending arrears of electricity bills, Chief Minister Manohar lal said on Tuesday.

Presiding over a meeting of district officers at Jhajjar, the Chief Minister said there is no shortage of electricity in the State and the Government is committed to provide round the clock electricity to consumers. But, people should realise that they have to pay for the facility they are availing.

Directing the officers to bridge the gap between them and the administration in order to maintain the faith of the people in the administrative system, he said his priority has been a transparent and corruption free administration.

“When the Prime Minister is working for 18 hours in a day as a chief servant of the country, we all need to work as public servants. I heard people’s grievances in seven-eight districts and they were feeling harassed due to their pending works. It is our responsibility to remove their grievances. The officers and officials would have to stay away from lust for power-lust for money,” he added.

Manohar lal said the State Government will disburse all types of social security pensions through banks after two months to bring transparency in pension distribution system. Thus officers should inspire people for opening banks accounts. Aadhar card is in not mandatory for this purpose.

Earlier, redressing the grievances of the people in Jhajjar, Manohar lal approved a project costing Rs4 crore for shifting of High Tension lines in Jhajjar and Bahadurgarh towns.

He said though this is his first visit to Jhajjar after becoming the Chief Minister, yet he had visited the district several times in his 34 years of public life. He is well versed with villages and roads of Jhajjar due to his involvement in various public functions or organisational work. Transparent governance, corruption-free system, employment to youth, welfare of the backward and poor and safety of women are priorities of his Government.

The Chief Minister said the process to set up ‘CM window’ at every district has already started. Every citizen of Haryana could submit his individual grievance, any social or village problem at the ‘CM window’ in his district. All such grievances would automatically reach to his office at Chandigarh and would be dealt accordingly. It would save time and money of the people for visiting Chandigarh for the redressal of their grievances. Technology would be extensively used for brining complete transparency in administrative works. Online redressal system is being formulated so as to facilitate people of the state, he added.

Expressing concern over law and order, drinking water and irrigation issues in Jhajjar, he said the police officers have been directed to maintain law and order so as to ensure an atmosphere of peace and harmony. He said the State Government would also make adequate arrangement of potable water at the doorsteps of people and at tail end for irrigation purposes as these areas are also among priority sectors.
