Himachal Congress on Thursday staged a statewide.Asuvidha Diwas’ protest at all district headquarters against demonetisation without any proper planning.
The protest at Shimla was led by HPCC President Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Congress workers gathered at Cart Road and tried to burn Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effigy against demonetisation.
Around 140 Congress workers including Sukhu, CPS Rohit Thakur, PCC General Secretary Harbhajan Singh Bhajji, and others were detained by police and later released.
Addressing party workers, Sukhu said that people are facing tough times and crisis of currency and no
relief measures were taken by the Government for the convenience of people who are lined up in queues to exchange currency notes.
He demanded immediate relief measures for the general public who are
facing hardship due to the Centre’s decision of demonetisation.
