Raising questions over Haryana Government's efforts for persons with disabilities, Prasanna Kumar Pincha, Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities on Friday said that the State Government is not serious about the welfare of disabled persons.

Every State conducts two meetings of its coordination committee to formulate policy in a year for the disabled persons, it means in 16 years coordination committee of Haryana should had called 32 meetings, whereas coordination committee called only three meetings in this long period. Pincha was here on an official visit to know about the welfare of disabled persons in the State. He told the media ersons that he contacted several officials during his visit, but did not get any positive response.
He added that the State Government prepared a proposal for 26 special schools for disabled children in year 2008, which couldn’t materialise even after five years. Haryana Government has 3 per cent reservations in Government jobs for the disabled persons. However, there is backlog of 1,330 posts, he added.
