Out of power for more than a decade in Chandigarh, the city Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has high hopes of success in the forthcoming general elections considering the response to its ongoing campaigns.

The Chandigarh BJP is overwhelmed with the response to its ongoing ‘Missed Call’ campaign. As many as 4,500 calls have been registered during the ‘Missed call’ campaign in a fortnight. The unique campaign was launched in Chandigarh on February 18 to confirm people’s support to make party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India and to register with party’s mission of 272 plus seats in upcoming lok Sabha polls 2014.

The party had launched a ten digit number 8528-8528-00 and a call centre for smooth functioning of the campaign at Mohali. After sending a missed call to the ten digit number, the caller is registered and the volunteers from party’s youth wing get in touch with caller to get their basic details and fix up a meeting at convenient time and place. The party volunteers then deliver an informative kit to apprise the caller about Narendra Modi’s vision for brand India. While talking to The Pioneer, Amit Rana, Chandigarh Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president said, “Since February 18, about 4,500 calls have been registered during the ‘Missed Call’ campaign. The party has been receiving an overwhelming response from the people of city.”

“It is only Chandigarh BJP unit which has been delivering the informative kits to the callers under the Missed Call campaign. The party units in other States/Union Territories who have launched such campaigns are only registering calls to confirm people’s support for the party,” he said. He added, “The leaders of BJP units in other States have appreciated our initiative and are also planning to launch the same campaign in their areas.”

Amit informed that the party volunteers have started delivering informative kits to the residents after registering their calls. The party has delegated the duty to two volunteers in each ward to deliver the party’s kit to the residents, he said. To run this campaign, a team of volunteers of BJP’s Yuva Morcha has been trained to deal with the city residents. And, the well-trained staff is managing back end operations at the call centre which is operating from 9 am to 6 pm every day.

Ahead of the crucial polls, the party has been utilising all potential means of communication to reach out to voters of both urban and rural areas in the city. From invading the social networking platforms to marching through the streets, the city BJP leaders are giving their best shot to create awareness among the masses. With an aim to accomplish party’s 272 plus mission, the city party unit has also launched a number of campaigns to spread ‘Narendra Modi for PM’ message across the city.

These campaigns included ‘One Note, Kamal Pe Vote’, ‘NaMo Tea Party’, ‘Nayi Soch, Nayi Umeed, Nayi Rajneeti’ and ‘Kamal Mehandi & Rangoli’ campaign. The party is also connecting with the city voters through SMS campaigns, its website and other social networking outlets, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
