Punjab’s former local Bodies Minister and BJP MlA from Jalandhar Central N Manoranjan Kalia on Monday urged the Central Government to announce a special economic package for the State so that the developmental works could be carried fast.
Kalia said that all the non-Congress Governments at the Centre had provided special financial assistance to Punjab to execute it’s development projects. “During the Governments of former Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Inder Kumar Gujral, Punjab was not only given a refinery for Bathinda and a special economic package for the developmental projects but the State also got a special grant for the celebrations of 300th anniversary of the foundation of Khalsa Panh besides a special package for the four-laning of national highway up to Attari,” he said. Kalia said that same type of treatment should be accorded to the State by the NDA-II Government.
