The project will be established in collaboration of Haryana Urban local Bodies Department, Municipal Corporation Gurugram, Municipal Corporation Faridabad, and Eco Green Energy Private limited, said an official spokesman.

He said that in order to generate energy from waste, a plant would be set up under this project which would generate at least 100 MW of electricity daily. Costing Rs 430 crore, it would be one of the largest projects of its kind in India.

It would aim at providing clean environment through scientific processing and disposal of solid waste in Gururgram and Faridabad, he added.

Under this project, segregation would be done for waste collected from every house, segregation points would be set up and processing of the waste collected from houses and streets would be done along with the waste at waste processing site in village Bandhwari.

Besides, the project includes setting up of a modern compost processing unit, biogas and an RDF unit. It would be designed and developed in compliance with the Municipal Solid Waste Management Rule-2016 notified by the Ministry of Environment and Forests and other rules and instructions of the National Green Tribunal.

The spokesman said modern technology would be used to segregate and collect waste from houses. It would be environment friendly and e-Rickshaws would be used for door-to-door collection. The entire process of garbage collection would be made online. Besides, a grievance redressal system would also be established.

Every day, 1,400 tonnes of solid waste is produced in Gururgram and Faridabad. Under the project, door-to-door garbage collection would start within four months and the whole city would be covered in the next one month. Through Swachh Bharat Mission of the Centre, one-time grant of Rs 75 crore would be spent on setting up a plant to generate energy from waste, said he. For successful implementation of the project, the assistance of residents of Gururgram, Faridabad and village Bandhwari, workers of solid waste management and non-government organisations would be sought, he added.
