Punjab Government has decided to open new skill development centres in the state for each industry to train and make the state’s youth fully ‘skilled’.
Announcing this inaugurating a mega job fair organized by Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), the state Technical Education, Industrial Training, Employment Generation, and Science and Technology Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday said that Punjab government will open new skill development centres for each industry so that they could not face any kind of problem in getting employment and good packages in the state.
“These Skill Development Centres will offer free training to the youth and make them fully expertise in various trades so that they can get good packages from the industries once they complete their training,” said the Minister.
The Minister said that soon, the Technical Education Department is also going to upgrade the curriculum of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to meet the present needs of the industry in the State.
He targeted the previous SAD-BJP government for giving no attention towards the jobs creation in the state and claimed that they made just false promises. “But, Punjab government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has been making strenuous efforts to provide employment to the youth. During previous year, 1.62 lakh jobs were provided to the youths,” he said.
Channi also appreciated CICU for holding a mega job fair and invited other industry associations to come forward and hold job fairs for which he and his department will give fulsome support.
In the CICU job fair, 73 business houses from various parts of the state took part and 3,800 youth got themselves registered for various trades wherein 1,680 got appointment letters.
The trades include welder, fitter, electrician, computer operator, sales associates, turner, accountants, and others.
